Where: Fred Beekman Park
What: a yummy BBQ, volleyball, music and celebrating the end of spring quarter!
When: June 20th 4-11pm

I’ll keep you guys updated on some final details in a later email.

LCN Dinner

Hello my favorite LSO members,

Two more weeks until the LCN dinner! I hope everyone is as excited as I am! Here’s a quick update of the details, enjoy

Who: Lebanese Collegiate Network and LSO members from OSU and other colleges!

What: A dinner will be held where we will present our fabulous accomplishments. We will also get a chance to meet other amazing Lebanese people. Tickets are $25 for subscribing members and $30 for general students.

When: May 8 at 5-8 pm.

Where: Hyatt Regency Hotel. Detroit, MI!

Why: Do I even need to ask this question? We’re going to have FUN so get excited! :D

We need to organize the transportation so LET ME KNOW ASAP IF YOU ARE INTERESTED!!! WE WANT YOU ALL TO COME!!!!

Fun Updates!

Hello lovely LSOers,

I have some really fun updates for everyone. SO PLEASE PAY ATTENTION

First, craving some Arab-ness in your life?? Well come to Detroit MI with us!!! The planned date is May 8 at 5-8 pm. We’re going to present our fabulous accomplishments to the Lebanese Collegiate Network at the Hyatt Regency Hotel (dinner will be served). This place is classy so get excited! And what a great chance to get some exposure and meet some other sweet Lebanese people besides ourselves. Tickets are $25 for subscribing members and $30 for general students. We need to organize the transportation so LET ME KNOW ASAP IF YOU ARE INTERESTED!!! WE WANT YOU ALL TO COME!!!!

Second, Roy Khalil needs our support! He is a young Lebanese Director, who recently made a short film “All Birds Whistle” that has been chosen this year to be in the Official Selection of the Athens International Film and Video Festival 2010 in Ohio. “All Birds Whistle” will be screening on Sunday, April 25th, 8:15 pm, Athena Cinema. We are very proud that he has asked us to be a part of this exciting experience and want all of your support! Let me know if you guys want to come so we can arrange transportation for this event as well!

All shows that start after 6:00 pm are $6.50 for adults; $5.50 senior/child. Advance tickets are available at 1:00pm, Friday, April 23.

Meeting Minutes!

Hey LSO members,

Thanks to those who came to our meeting. Attached is the PowerPoint! If you weren’t able to make it, here’s a run down of what you missed:

Volunteers needed!!! Multicultural night at Steeb Hall (Tue. April 13 7-8:30 pm). Come help spread the word about LSO and possibly recruit future members.

2010 Lebanese Collegiate Network Dinner in Dearborn, MI (Hyatt Regency Hotel May 8, 5-8pm). LSO has been invited to give a presentation about our organization’s accomplishments. This is a BIG DEAL. So come support us! Ticket costs vary, $25 for subscribing students (all members can subscribe) and $30 for general students. Please let us know asap if you are interested so we can begin to arrange group transportation!! Check out the attached PowerPoint for more details!

Also, got any ideas for big events that LSO can host this summer/fall?? E-mail them back to me and I will bring them up at the next LSO committee meeting.

Last but not least: T-SHIRTS!!!! Submit designs for LSO T-shirts back to me and we will all vote on the winning design.

Dinner/Dance Party and General Meeting!

Hi LSO members,
We have two important updates for this week!
The next General Meeting will be held this Thursday April 8th at 7 pm in Central Classroom 243. Come ready to discuss ideas for upcoming LSO events. We also have exciting news about LSO’s increasing exposure and need your participation in possible future events. We will be serving FREE PIZZA!
Second, the Lebanese and Turkish Dinner/Dance Party will be this Saturday April 10th at 9:30 pm at The Greek Corner (3512 West Dublin Granville). The menu includes: Hummus, Baba Ghanouj, tzatziki, spinach pies, feta cheese pies, keffta, and greek salad. There will also be a cash bar (for 21 and up) and we have reserved DJ to play our favorite Arabic music. This event, including the food, is also FREE!

Dear LSO Members and Friends,

This Thursday, March 18 we will be having an End of the Quarter dinner and dance party at Ali Baba restaurant, located at 1980A North High Street Columbus, OH 43201.

For only $10, you can enjoy buffet-style appetizers including Hummus, Baba Ghanouj, Mama Ghanouj, Tabouli, and your choice of sandwich, drink and desserts! The event will be held from 8pm-12am, and you are welcome to bring friends. Don’t miss out on the best way to end your Winter Quarter, with Mediterranean food, Arabic music, dancing, and great people!

Taste of OSU

Dear LSO members and friends,

First of all, we would like thank those who were able to make it to the elections! Congratulations to the newly elected LSO committee: Zeina Kais (President), Elias Alwan (Vice-President), Fadi Luc Jaber (Treasurer), Lori Hage (Secretary). The new committee will be officially taking over in May 2010 and serving until May 2011 – but you should expect to see them in action as early as next week!

Second, Taste of OSU is next Friday, the 29th of January from 5-9PM, and as always we are participating with all our efforts. We’re aiming at topping our previous years’ achievements yet again. Therefore, we invite you all to attend and cheer for the LSO! Moreover, we urge you to be a part of the preparation and lend your helping hand to the various tasks needed.

To make things easier, we have created an online signup sheet that you can mark with your committed assistance:

Cooking: We need 5 to 6 people to be present at any time during the cooking period (Wed. 27th b/w 6 and 9PM, Thurs. 28th b/w 6 and 12PM, Fri. 29th b/w 8AM-2PM) – so even if you cannot make it for the entire duration but can spare an hour or two, then please write down what times you can help out. Fadi and Rami, our culinary team leaders, will be contacting the volunteers with more details.
Setting up our stand: We need 2 to 3 people to help transport and build up our display on the day of the event between 2 and 4PM.
Dance performance: The dance troupe needs a few guys to make an appearance for a few seconds on stage as part of the “Zaffe” (wedding dance) to escort the “groom” to his position.

Apart from being a wonderful team building exercise, those helping out with the cooking will get the chance to eat some really really fresh and tasty food right out of the ovens and pots; and better yet, you’ll be learning how to make them yourselves!

Elections/Karaoke Night

Dear LSO Members and Friends,

Elections are going to be held this Sunday January 17th from 6-10pm at Buckeye Village. We will first start by voting to amend the voting date followed by a small speech from all the candidates. Please feel free to bring a dish to share; we’ll have a fun night with games and karaoke! Additionally, we will begin to discuss the preparations for Taste of OSU which includes the culinary team and performance team.

Elections/Taste of OSU

Dear LSO Members and Friends,

We hope that everyone is off to a great start this quarter! Believe it or not , Taste of OSU is right around the corner. There will be a meeting this friday January 8th at 6pm in the lower level of the rpac for anyone interested in being a part of the dabke performance. It is essential that everyone interested attend because we will be discussing the ideas for this years song and routine. Therefore, practices will take place throughout the next three weeks. Additionally, we would like to extend the window for nominations for President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer until Wednesday January 13th so please send them in ASAP! Our tentative election date is Sunday the 17th so mark your calendars! More information will come to you shortly, expect a nice and fun election night with karaoke, food, and games.
